The first japanese car

When did the Japanese make their first own car? Before you impress me with your hondanissanmitusbishian knowledge, think for a minute. Have they ever made a one? It's no doubt they are producing millions of machines every minute and that they're making millions of people happy with that. But are these cars really japanese? Let's take a look. It began with copying the western technologies, which is obvious - it's herr Benz who invented a car and you can't outstrip him anymore. The problem is, they didn't stop to copy Europe even now, when they can make a better car than most of the continental carmakers. Toyota is the most reliable car ever, its luxurious models are impressive too; they could even manage quite nice developed sportscars - and it's all wasted because they're all look like cheap copy of Mercedes, Aston or Hummer, what makes them completely useless. It's not japanese, really - it lacks any of asian character, personality, spirit - whatever you call it. Think about a Honda NSX - it may be a really good drive, good technology and quality, but who cares when one discover that all its styling and concept comes from the rejected Ferrari 4×4 concept...Disgusting. They're so incredibly good with technology, but when it comes to create something - it fails. How did they come to the idea of Lexus name? "Boss-san, let's take some luxurious english word and change one letter so we can register it". Which word? They probably knew only one. It all happens again and again, but suddenly - Nissan made a GT-R. It doesn't look like a Ferrari, it doesn't look like an Jessica Alba - it's not luxurious nor sublime. Thank, good God - it's not european at all. Apart from traditional - and a bit missed - name it may be the first ever attempt to make a machine, that has no complexes of europeness, design or tradition. It's sharp, silver and very, very techno - like the Shinkansen supertrain or samurai blade. It's good. In an interview, one of the designers claimed that they tried to make a car, that will not remain of any of other car brands, that will carry its very own, very japanese features. I think that they succeeded - in whole world there's no car like the GT-R of Nissan. It looks like a power ranger's car, and the internet nerds will like it, as they liked manga porn, when they were young. Sublime Europeans may not like it at all - and it's very, very good.
